Lilliana Checo
aquarium timer
(2019)

The prompt for this project was to pick a location in New York City and create a system that shows the pass of time in a way that is unique to that place. The location I worked with was the New York Aquarium in Brooklyn. Since an aquarium is a place one goes to view the animals I thought it would be exciting to have a way to check when they will be there beforehand. I especifically chose the Sea Cliffs area, where the marine mammals are located, since it is one of the most eventful areas of the aquarium. The shapes on each animal's page are inspired in positive and negative shapes of their silhouettes.
